About a month ago I signed up for a killer deal on 2 years of Fitness magazine - I had about given up on receiving my first issue until yesterday when my first issue (June) and the current one both showed up in my mailbox!
I obviously signed up to read all of the magazine, but to me magazines are so much waste since they are FILLED with ads. They also take up a lot of space, especially because we have signed up for several in the past that we have still kept just for one or two articles. So we now have a binder where we keep the articles we like and want for reference - whether it be hiking, recipes, workout tips, or general information and tips.
At lunch it took me an hour to flip through 1 issue because I was picking out the articles I wanted to save and I found this little snippit: (Fitness magazine July/August 2012)
Q: How much sun do I need each day for natural vitamin D production?
A: Aim for 10 to 15 minutes of rays on your arms and legs at least three days a week. "In that time, your body will make nearly 3,000 international units of D, which is about the same as what you would get from drinking 30 glasses of milk." say Adit Ginde, M.D., an expert on the vitamin and an assistant professor at teh University of Colorado School of Medicine. But don't forget you sun smarts. Head outside in the morning or early evening when UV rays are weaker. Always use sunscreen on your face and neck, and when you're going to be out for more than 15 minutes, apply all over."
Not only was this little Q&A a ton of great information (only 10-15 minutes?! EASY), but it also reminded me of a great song/speech that was really popular in the 90's and also loaded with TONS of amazingly awesome advice.
